Project Description:

The construction works for the underground station U2/22 "Rathaus" essentially comprises the following works:

• Station shafts "Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz", "Landesgerichtsstrasse", "Josefstaedterstrasse" and "Tulpengasse"
• Two station tubes each approx. 120 m long in the "Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz" area
• Two line tubes between station “Schottentor” and construction section U2/17 with a length of approx. 1,000 m each (NÖT track 1 + 2)
• Cross cuts Q1 to Q5
• Inclined escalator shafts
• Vertical and horizontal ventilation tunnels
• Emergency exit shaft in the „Reichsratsstrasse“
• Descent building "Schottentor"

The construction of the shaft and tunnel structures also includes a series of special construction measures (lowering of the groundwater, bored piles, DSV, settlement compensation and building improvements).
