An important milestone was reached on the Wiental Relief Channel West project in the last week before the Christmas holidays. On Wednesday, 18 December 2024, the EPB TBM for the Wiental Relief Channel was formally accepted at Herrenknecht AG in Schwanau in the presence of the client ‘Wien Kanal’ and the ARGE project management.

With a cutter head diameter of 3.82 m and a total length of approximately 125 m, our TBM, weighing around 340 tonnes, is ready to play a decisive and important role in this extraordinary project of the century.

After the technical acceptance, the machine will be dismantled and the components transported to the construction site to the launch shaft on the Gaudenzdorfer Gürtel. The TBM will be reassembled there in mid-February so that our construction site team can start the 8,600 metre-long drive as planned at the beginning of April 2025.
